Absolutely no idea. How would one go about measuring this? Is there a thermometer I can buy?
Most growers do put a thermostat and humidistat inside the Grobo so they have an idea what the temps and rh% are. While there are these sensors in the Grobo, we don’t have the data available to us. So that’s why you may see a bunch of ThermPro or Govee monitors.
For a basic model I like the ThermoPro:

For an enhanced model I like the Govee WiFi Smart monitor:

Lowering the temps at night can help bring out the purple in some strains.
Really?! Because to be honest I picked the strain because of the purple colour. Purchased. Is it too late to start playing around with the temp for this grow?
Yea, genetics play a big role too. I am growing Purple Haze and have yet to see the purple hues emerge. I’m jealous of your purple!
Haha thanks. I think I’m having really good beginners luck.
To lower temp in Grobo, do I change light settings?
Not much you can do by way of temp inside the Grobo. Gotta monitor the room it’s in
Ahhhh got it.
There’s terrible little flies buzzing around my plant. I’ve been going through the forum - are they gnats? Do I need neem oil?
In good news the buds are getting so big!
Get some neem oil. They populate your root ball, often eat at your roots from the cocoa pod and lay their eggs in there. But fun it slows your growth, but buds look nice! Spray with neem oil/water either once or twice a day until you don’t see them any more.
Fungus gnats suck! But they aren’t too hard to get rid of. Where are they populated the most?
Ah! What jerks! The plant is starting to smell amazing today too.
They were mostly in the branches. I just started noticing them today.
I’d definitely get them taken care of. Organic neem oil since you’ll be consuming the flowers, nothing too harsh.
Since you’re gonna be spraying the plant and her flowers, you’ll most likely want to wash your buds after harvest considering you have bugs running up and down… many people have opinions against this process but it’s sometimes necessary if buds suffer an infestation. How many bugs if you can estimate?
Sooner you can get them sprayed down the better. Good thing you caught it early!
I had these in my first grow because the soil was miracleGro and there were larvae in the bag when I bought it. I had poor drainage and they thrive in moist environments
Good lord those purples are amazing !
Lower night time temperatures are typically what can coax out the Anthocyanins in the plant as well as genetic disposition
What a great plant it’s turning out to be !
The fungus gnats are annoying but neem oil will make them lazy and dumb and stop reproducing so it should take care of them.
Sticky traps for flies can do wonders as well, look into those to trap the suckers. You can attach them with magnets inside the Grobo if needed.
Luckily I ordered organic neem oil last night on Amazon after reading your first reply @OrionsCeiling - so thanks for that! It should be here today.
The weird thing is I opened the door this morning and I’m not seeing any flies now. I’m still going to spray the plant down just in case. I saw about 8-10 flies last night and none this morning.
What’s the ratio of neem oil to water? And I was reading that I need to add a few drops of soap? Should I do that too?
And gross about the miracle grow.
Thank you @pyromancy! I can’t believe the colour of this plant. The stems are red too when you look close enough. It’s starting to smell sooooo good. For my first grow I’m blown away by how well this plant is growing.
I generally keep my condo pretty cool. I turn off the heat completely at night, so maybe that has something to do with it?
I can definitely pick up some fly traps too. Thanks for the tips!
Hi
At this stage in your grow (Flower), the application of Neem oil should be limited or avoided. Neem has been linked to CHS
An alternative, less effective but safer method is IPM Sticky Cards
If you do choose to use Neem, please use at your own risk:
- also required for Neem application: non anti bacterial dish soap.
-
Follow the bottle directions for mixing ratio.
-
Mix into bowl and apply with Q-Tips or Napkin to effected areas.
-
Avoid flowers, limit use.
-
Avoid skin contact!
Hey @drewcmpbll thanks for the tips and links! I just ordered the sticky tape. The flies seem to be gone today (or maybe they’re just hiding).
Thanks I will!
Update: the sticky tape and bowl of neem oil have killed all the flies.
Now I’m just patiently waiting for the trichomes to turn cloudy and amber. I’ve extended the flowering phase 2x now.
Nice looking plant and purple buds! Looks like most or all of the pistils have changed to orange color and curled up. That’s a good sign that you are near harvest.
Do you have a 60x or higher loupe or something to view trichs?
