Wedding Cake Grow **Harvested**

Hey guys. Let the new journey begin! I’m going to get that second harvest under my belt! I’m growing Wedding Cake

1 out of 3 seeds germinated successfully. After 12 days in the Grobo Start, I transferred the plant to the Grobo. My main concerns right now is that her stalk is lengthy and there is some browning on the stalk. I think the browning was due to the peat pod being too wet so I removed the wick. I have the fan on low and facing the wall to help dry the peat pod. Hoping she’ll be fine and her growth isn’t stunted. Really excited to grow this strain!

I added some mylar inside the Grobo for this grow (thanks to @Vicc @pyromancy for the idea)

Do you think your germ issues are due to genetics? 1 in 3 isn’t great. I drowned 3 in the Grobo before I started germing outside of it. Do you add anything (Great White, Superthrive, etc)? I’m looking at the start, but if it has the same issues…

I’m 4/4 germinating in the Grobo with the old school cocopods. 3/3 germinating in the Start with the new peat pods. Mainly ILGM seeds.

haha yes I’ve noticed that it has been brighter with the mylar. it takes some time to getting used to

I’m not sure what the cause is. Could be bad seeds/genetics or me doing something wrong. Had a few unsuccessful germinations via coco pod method, peat pod/Start, and paper towel in a ziplock on top of my computer lol. A lot of other folks do not seem to have a problem with germination.

These seeds are from Barney’s Farm via Seedsman. I do not add anything to the germination process. I would say that it appears the germination and growth seems to be a lot faster in the Start compared to being inside the Grobo.

Although two different strains, here are 2 plants on day 12, one germinated inside the coco pod/Grobo and one germinated inside the peat pod/Start:

Thats a great comparison! Whether different strains or not, you can definitely tell that the plant has a much easier time. Those roots are gorgeous

Yeah I agree with @Aang that the Start does a much better job of raising the seedling during germination and early veg. I bet it has to do with the light intensity and the distance between the seedling and the light.

I have noticed considerably more growth and faster progress in the Start during the first 12 days of life compared to germinating in the Grobo Premium.

Quick update: She’s looking droopy and unhappy. The peat pod seems to be wet even though the wick was removed. Only have the Grobo air pump running at this time.

She might be suffering from damping off. Is there anything that I could do or should I leave her alone?

It looks like there is way too much water/condensation under the reservoir lid. If water is splashing up there it is surely over saturating the peat pod {ExcellentCatch }:

What stage of the grow is this in? I ask because in early veg it fills to the Medium float mark. That could be part of the problem too.

Considering the techniques I mentioned in the damping off victories thread. Also take a look at how @SilverGrobo has added a spacer or another lid to raise the entire pod up.

I have a regular lid I can try adding underneath the peat pod lid but I’m not sure if it’ll fit

Actually I misspoke. In early veg it fills to the medium float level. In late veg/trans/flower it fills to the high mark.

@Aang I would scoop out 2-3 cups of water… that should lower the water level line. And as @SilverGrobo says, you can start hitting her with a fan on low now as well.

The regular lid will not fit. For now I manually drained out some water. I have a fan running too. Will try to figure out a solution when I come back home tonight

Alrighty then. Hmm, I’m going to be in a similar situation soon as I have 2 seedlings in the Start to transplant into the Grobos once the current plants are harvested.

I know with my old style lid it wasn’t quite a perfect fit on the tank. Just gently laying it on she would sit a good 0.5" higher. Going to have to keep a close eye on the water levels, height of the new peat pod basket, condensation under the new lid, and peat pod wetness once I transplant.

Day 24 Early Veg 14/14

She’s looking better and her new growth looks healthy .
I count 5 nodes on her, so I’ll be topping soon and then give her an extra week to recover. She was leaning a lot so I’m using a twist tie to keep her stalk upright.
Planning to take a look at her roots in about 2 weeks, super curious to see how they’re going to look.

When correcting an error its important to do it in the original post instead of making a new one because most people only read one or two post before trying things out, they will never catch the mistake if its too far down in the posts!

General practice is NOT to manually adjust water levels!
Work with grobo support on finding a permanent solution to water level issues!
Its important to know if your sensors need adjusting or if there is a technical error with sensors!

What should the water level be?
