Got you, yours will def work. Just wanted to show you what I’m blowing money on.
I hear you, flex away
Day 6 (6 of 10 germination stage):
I topped off the reservoir today, it took very little water to do so, may 1-2 cups or so. Prior to my fill I measured EC @ 0.4, PPM500 @ 200, and pH @ 6.1, I would love to hear expert opinions on these readings on if my water nutrient solution is proper or out of whack. The solution is comprised of Grobo’s dosing of pH balancing & nutrients plus 2 mL per gallon Hydroguard and 2.5 mL per 3 gallons Recharge. (I initially mixed the Recharge and Hydroguard into my “fill bucket” and then filled the reservoir using the Grobo’s water pump).
I also had my first successful support ticket interaction with the Grobo team, I had installed the reservoir cover incorrectly (pushed it down to far, in between the wall that separates the nutrient bottles from the reservoir instead of setting it on top of the wall) which caused the bottom of my coco pod to sit in the water instead of suspend slightly above it. This was quickly recognized by their team and the easy fix was made immediately. (Thanks Danielle )
Otherwise, the only other thing that I have noticed is that she is “bowing” or bending forward (see picture below), is this natural? Is it a “bad”? Would love input on this as well!
Looks like she just needs a little support - there’s a few posts on here if you need ideas. You could probably even use a paper clip.
That’s what I figured, will get her supported now.
Perfect.
I noticed when pushing her up to straighten out she gave a good amount of resistance, felt strong
That was her telling you she’s got it from here
I’m on Day 8 (8/10 Germination) and I have not received a drain/fill notification. Should I go ahead and do so anyways? Thanks!
It should come today at the exact time you started the grow
Thanks

(If it is from the [HoseHolder] I’ld recommend separating the hoses and leaving the magnet out of your water buckets like we are doing now):

If you are traveling and need to change a day or two just remember the alerts still will generate, but you can clear them easily as well.
Upon conducting my water change today I observed the following stats:
Water out pH: 6.0
Water out EC: 0.5
Water out PPM700: 320
Total water drained from reservoir: 2.4 Gallons
Water in pH: 8.6 (After 6 mL Hydroguard and 2.5 mL Recharge mixed into RO Water)
Water in EC: 0.0
Water in PPM700: 0
Total water syphoned into reservoir 2.1 Gallons
Water in reservoir 3 hours after drain/fill
pH: 5.6
EC: 0.7
PPM700: 470
Below I have posted a picture of my nutrient bottles after fill, you will notice a blue indicator line on the Grobo labels showing where my nutes were measured for week 1
I would love to hear any and all observations based on the above mentioned information. Thank you all very much for taking the time to follow my first grow, it is immensely appreciated!
On another note, Is the support I implemented to “straighten her out” placed peoperly? I worry about it touching the leaves but figured it was better the cotyledons instead of its first set of real leaves, hope I’m correct! Also, when is it advisable to remove the support? What indicators should I look for in order to do so? (Glamour shot below)
Thanks Growers!
SWSVIC
I share the same worry. If you would like an alternative option, what I have done in the past is taken a plastic straw, cut it to the almost the length of my trunk, and then slice long ways down the middle of the straw so I can open the straw and wrap it around the base. You’ll find it a bit difficult to work with and get it safely wrapped around your trunk, so rather than just making a single cut down the side of the straw, perhaps cut out a bit larger of a notch.
This would be safe to keep on for the foreseeable future until the trunk thickens up.
Bold but I like it, only have paper straws however
You are my hero!! Bravo!!
Looks good . As for the leaning I wouldn’t keep it propped up. They move around in the light if you had a time lapse you’d see it swirling around, it’s normal and if anything I’d want her to pick herself up and straighten/strengthen on her own. Only reason I would put a straw or something like your have if the stem was way too tall, but yours isn’t. You can keep it but it’s unnecessary imo, even if it has a slight lean she will pick up on her own.
