They will burn under direct light.
I have the same problem.
I used a grobo support and moved it to the side out of direct light.
Or you can put a scrogg at the top to keep them out of the way you will just need to push the buds to the si de of the scrogg still.
What B has suggested or super cropping are really your only options

You don’t have to break it if you use something to hold it down but to answer your question no its not too late to supercrop/ bend.
