Looking for noise reduction mods [RESOLVED]

The sound isn’t horrible but it is definitely noticable. Does anyone have any modifications to help dampen the sound of the air pump. I don’t have any wires vibrating, just the pump. I thought about taking the back off and try encasing the pump with some kind of sound dampening material… like the stuff the sell for the bottom of cars or even rock wool.

You and me both… it’s in my bedroom. I don’t have much hope here since overheating is real concern and hard to fix.

As long as the wires aren’t vibrating on the pump shouldn’t be too loud or atleast mine isn’t. But yeah there was one person putting https://www.amazon.com/Dynamat-Xtreme-Extreme-BULK-Sheet/dp/B01DUOTZOY/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=dynamat&qid=1581660692&sr=8-5 or a generic dynamat type material, I just wonder if that would make the pump get way to hot or damage it some how. You could put it on the outside of the Grobo if you wanted to test that I don’t see the harm. Regardless best of luck :four_leaf_clover: to your sound problem :ear: :+1:

I have some of that stuff in my basement… I’m going to try it tomorrow… in the mean time here is a video of it set up. Maybe you can tell me if this is the normal sound level in germination… youtu.be/ivMaEkZeheM

hmm that does sound a little loud, but if you do end up using some dynamax type stuff on the outside of the box that could muffle the sound out quite a bit but who knows ¯_(ツ)_/¯ ?

When you mentioned someone else tried dyna mat did you get that from another post. I’d love to find that user and pick their brain

I found a great solution. I bought this pump off amazon that is USB powered and practically silent. World of difference in my grobo. I highly recommend this for those bothered by the noise. link to the pump in the description of the youtube video: youtu.be/i2Q-SxVqcD0

The pump provider with the machine didn’t seem to produce enough bubbles for me so I took the airline off the internal pump and fixed it to an external pump much larger that sits outside of the Grobo. This reduce the noise a lot and I have much better bubble production. It’s a $40 investment that is totally worth it
