Nutes usually kick in on first drain/fill after germination if I recall correctly, once you are in the early vegetation stage a drain/fill will dose.
Bottles #1 & #2 are ph up and ph down, dosed on an hourly schedule, so it’s keeping pH in check 24/7. The less of these it uses the better, but unless it’s using a considerable amount too quickly (half bottle overnight/in few days) there’s no real issue.
Bottles #3 and #4 are the main nutrients, they’re dosed after you do a complete drain+fill cycle (so it does not happen on a top-up fill, but after it’s been drained and filled it will).
Bottle #5 is CalMag (calcium + magnesium) and dispensed similar to #3 and #4, but only if the grobo detects the EC/ppm of the water to be high enough. If you’re using RO/distilled water it should be dosing this after you drain/fill. If you are using tap water it likely won’t dose it (since it typically contains those elements).
Sometimes the first dosing from the pumps sucks air, but that usually fixes itself within the first 2-3 weeks.

I had a new unit and I noticed it was not dispensing anything from 3,4, 5 bottles. I think the lines need to be primed like @vegetato was saying. To accomplish this you can perform a drain/fill function enough times until you can confirm it is pumping nutes out of 3, 4, and 5. It took me 2 or 3 drain/fills

Almost forgot - you can also follow those lines and check for pinching/kinking where they bend or where another hose crosses over them. That also is something to check with new units and after cleaning the unit.

Try marking bottles with marker before drain and fill so you know which bottles are dispensing. Might help down the road.

Sorry to Bud in on you conversation, but I have to say that owned my Grobo premium for almost a year now and that’s the first time I paid attention to someone explaining in detail the nutes…lol. Explains why I some bottles are almost full and others are empty at the end of each grow. Guess I need to be more aware! I spend too much time on my tents sometimes I think…

Bought a Grobo with the intent to grow medical for a disability. I’m retired and no longer can afford dispensary prices on a weekly basis. Knowing nothing about growing, it made sense to invest in an automated system. What I didn’t realize at the time was that I would need more quantity to meet my medical needs than Grobo could yield.
Therefore, I spent a great deal of time reading on the community about grow 
so I invested in a couple and I am having fun!!!
Think I’m at the point where there is something being harvested on a regular basis to meet medical demands, which is good thing! Lol that I can thank Grobo for… gave me the tools, skills, and confidence, to invest and take a journey into the grow world!!!

Thanks been around just get sucked into Alice’s rabbit hole far too often and have tendency to sel-isolate! This pandemic gives me nothing but energy man… living on manic high… know what the say about introvert/extrovert? The introvert only gets more charged by greater isolation, whereas the extrovert gets extremely taxed by isolation. Reverse is true in the other order…

Question on that back plant? It’s a GMO Cookie indica. I’ve topped and I’m in 12/12 because I’m looking maybe days from flowering. I also have had to raise my light twice in the last week because it’s growing so fast…however I don’t want the light too high for the other plants! Should I top this plant again??? Or let it ride… bend it back with bamboo sticks maybe
