#2nd Grow Moby Dick by Dinafem

Are u talking support already. The leaves don’t look good buddy

Thanks guys! Yea, oddly the leaves have looked like that through most of the grow. I got with support and everything was fine on there side. I bought a ph reader to make sure mine was calibrating properly and everything checked out there too. I keep inspecting for bugs and I’m not seeing any bugs either. But I assume it has had something going on with how long its been taking to grow, even with the other challenges I’ve faced. Im using the generic sativa recipe bc there isnt one for this particular strain yet. Could the recipe have anything to do with it? I dont have any Revive but I’ll gladly get some if it could help… or any other nutrients.

No, to be honest the recipes don’t have much to do with anything, this is a bigger issue my man. It’s hard to tell with out more information but there most likely is an infestation (most probably broad mites which are very difficult to see with the naked eye). Check out the link below, perhaps you can solve this once and for all!

Thanks for that info! If its an infestation, they are some tough bugs! I’ve been using diatomaceous earth, neem oil, and insecticidal soap ever since I saw bugs in the early veg stage. I applied all three regularly until a few days ago. Im just using a little diatomaceous earth now bc I didnt want to mess up the bud taste or quality. When I get home from work, I’m going to try to take a closer look with my loupe to see if I can see anything.

Ok. So I did a a lot of inspecting with a loupe and a micro lens on my camera and can’t see anything bug related. I will note that the leaves not at the top are very green and full. The only leaves that color like that are new leaves that are also exposed to light and as they grow, they get a little dry. If I clip them, the leaves underneath stay pretty nice. With that said, does that sound like something other than mites, or am I still not seeing them?

I’m wondering if what you are doing to treat for the mites may be having adverse effects on your plant. Sounds like it may be causing your outermost leaves to burn in the light.

@Chad_Johnson What did support say about your EC/PH? Do u have those meters to check? ( i know u have been asked those questions before) You got leaf edge curl and intervanal yellowing. IMO- that looks like a High EC and possible lock out. I hope your plant pushes through. Some genetics just prefer a lower EC environment. Im going to be following your thread closely to see how she pushes through this. keep it up bud!

Thats a great point. I was trying to avoid spraying the leaves but there are two different misting sprayers I was using so I know the leaves got wet with it a little. Maybe the lights and solution were working together to burn the leaves most exposed to light…as I mentioned i did quit using both sprays at the start of flower stage so ill be curious to see what happens.

All they told me was they were normal. They didn’t give me specific numbers. I dont have an ec meter to independently test that but I do have a ph meter and I check the ph regularly. Ill get me an ec meter though and look into that. Thanks for the info and insight!

Was it just a water misting ?

@Jamminbear No. It was insecticidal soap and neem oil. I was battling some bugs early in the grow

  • (Maybe if you need to spray some of the Repellent for [Bug Invasion] you could do it lightly on the outside of the Grobo Walls, and slightly on the inner walls away from the light and the fans and the plant): (Spray on Napkin First then Dab on Walls):

I am on day 14 of flower today. I can only assume I will be extending flower by at least a week. I did a drain and fill plus defoliated her. The leaves connected to bud sights are still discolored but there were a lot of healthy green leaves too so I’m thinking/hoping it was the mist from the spray that was making the leaves discolor but I ordered an ec reader so I can start manually testing that as well. As always, any advice/recommendations is always welcomed and appreciated.

Wow, looking awesome! The lollipop looks great from what I’ve seen on here so far, however I am no expert. Looks like she is trained nicely in the Grobo and you got some nice spread out bud sites

Thanks man! I’m definitely far from an expert too. This plant has endured a lot due to some of my own mess ups and some things out of my control but I’m so glad I didn’t terminate the grow earlier on when I was having lots of issues. Ive learned so much from this grow and ive got a ton of new ideas for my next grow already.

Yea, props to you for sure! I had viewed the earlier problems in this thread myself and it is looking great now!

I did a drain and fill today. Flower day 20 of 60. I only trimmed off a couple small leaves that were blocking light to bud sites. I still have a slight discoloration to the leaves that are attached to budsites but the other leaves are looking healthy… still can’t pin exactly what is causing it, but the buds seem to be coming in nicely. For the 1st time, I removed the magnet and used the drain/fill hoses separately :man_facepalming:. Thank you @SWSVIC for that information! I dont know if others had posted it before but I saw you post about it and that saved me a bunch of trouble. Lol. I used distilled water that comes in the gallon jugs from the store. I was pouring it out into a separate bucket to filled from. And I would only put a little in at a time with a slow steady pour when I knew it was close to full bc I didnt want to pour the water back into the gallon when I was done. Now I can just stick the hose right in the jug :man_facepalming::joy: its the little things!

I also have a question - I’m leaving tonight to go out of town for 5 days (I know, horrible timing) and I won’t have anyone that can fill it for me. Should I force feed it a little extra water or let it go and hope for the best? As always, thank you everyone for all the help!

Hey Chad, why don’t you take a gallon jug of distilled water, bore a hole in the lid just big enough for the fill hose, set it inside your unit with the fill hose inserted (down to the bottom of the jug), and then perform your top offs remotely.

You’re always thinking outside the box and I greatly appreciate it! Thats exactly what ill be doing. :facepunch:
