Water Chiller Selection

I know I have to be more diligent about maintenance since I’m using tap so for senors & probes I’ll be regularly checking on them and cleaning/calibrating. The nute lines are dispensing from the bottle into the reservoir, not the other way around so they’re fine and I’m using my own pump/airline/airstones so thats covered.

The only thing I think could throw things off is the fact that the autodosing of nutes isn’t actually reading your plants needs, just taking measurements of the water which don’t give the full picture so they can be off when not accounting for what’s already present in the water. But like I said, I’d be willing to manually feed if necessary. The Grobo is just training wheels for me so to speak and my goal is to be able to eventually confidently grow without it’s assistance. If my stubborness gets me into trouble that’s ok cuz it’ll improve my problem-solving skills LOL.

Sounds like a great time to start a tent grow!

Hey check this out… Maybe you can run your tap water through a carbon filter first.
Plus I would definitely think about recalibrating your probe when switching water sources. It will help regulate the nutes to your water better.

For how long and did it work out for you? Did you take any precautions like filter it first?
I also think it would depend on where you lived.
I wouldn’t drink my tap water so I definitely wouldn’t grow with it.
But if it worked out for you that could be good news for some.

Water chiller ect…?

I hear you … this has turned out to be a more expensive project than I anticipated, but I just keep telling myself it’ll all be worth it in the end  . You only need a chiller if your reservoir temps go above 73 degrees and you are unable to lower it with other methods (air conditioner/fans).

Do you think this aquarium timer would help with the chiller freezing?

My opinion (and remember what they say about opinions  ) is no. As the chiller is already controlled by it’s own thermostat, I don’t see where a redundant controller would help

Doesn’t the grobo tell you if water gets to hot and what temp it’s at already it should 2300. but if not want to always have something to check it and mix shur my gro goes smoothly only want fire guys fire no bammer lol😂

Don’t get that one. Get this 2 pack for $5. It sticks to the wall in your grobo and you leave the probe in the reservoir.
