Update day 8/8 germination

How is she looking? Just changed the water and she starts early vegetation tomorrow…

Congrats on the seedling!

I think she is coming along. If I remember, she was a late sprout’er right? She should really take off in leaf and root production in the next 5-10 days.

The coco pod looks like it is a little too far into the lid. For the newer units like ours the pod should be flush with the lid. Does anyone else think the coco pod looks really wet?

I’m still on my first grow so hopefully some more experienced people can comment as well. Keep giving her the best environment possible and positive encouragement!

Yes she was kinda late I guess you could say because I had to germinate outside with the paper towel first, then transferred her to the coco pod. And I just pushed it far enough down to reach the tank. And I definitely don’t want to stress it out if I don’t necessarily have to. So hopefully I don’t have to.

Hey @Adrianna_Owens

I second what @miami5th said, your cocopod is supposed to be flush with the top of your reservoir lid and it should not be touching the water in your reservoir at the bottom but hanging slightly above. I would recommend readjustment now before it is too late, this will cause your pod to become over saturated and in turn cause your plant to damp off. Be very gentle not to break the pod.

Check out that earlier post I linked above. Be careful when pushing the coco pod back up.

Ok I will try to push it back up some. So how is the coco pod supposed to reach the water if its supposed to be above it and no roots have sprouted through it yet?

The bubbles produced by the air stone will give it plenty of water for the time being and soon your roots will hang down into the water to soak up those yummy nutrients.

Better?

Perfect :ok_hand:, does the coco pod feel wet to the touch or just slightly damp?

It was definitely wet and damp. And it didn’t break at all.

Got ya, good job! Do you have a mini fan in your unit? (One that you installed, not the Grobo fans.) if so, turn it on in order to stir the air inside and dry up your pod. Point the fan away from your plant since she is so little in her current stage. Later on in your grow you’ll want a fan directly on her to strengthen her stalk/stems as well as lower moisture levels and fight intruders like mold and insects.

No I don’t have a fan yet… do you have one you could recommend? Post the link?
