Too tall, mold(?), harvest(?)

So my wife and I just hit the last day of flowering on our sour diesel. We’ve noticed our plant is overflowing thanks to my newb late pruning but the plant looks great! Just concerned about humidity since the top buds have been bent over and there’s not as much space in there as I see from other pictures. Mold on the bottom as well is pretty intense but I’m not sure. Do we have harvest now? Do we let it go more? Remove mold? Take out some buds? Any thoughts are much appreciated. Just trying to get this one right since it’s going so well seemingly.

SHIT! That is a sick plant!!! I love Sour Diesel! They look very spot on to the genetics of the Sour D I’ve seen before  We grow it where I work at…

As far as the harvest, you’re gonna have to give us some trichome pictures for us to make that call for you; they look like there’s a lot of white hairs still so I think you might have at least another week or two of extension of flower to be honest, but I’m not an expert!

I wouldn’t worry about the mold on the cocopod, that looks completely normal.

Be careful taking pictures of her with the lights off in the Grobo! That could cause some stress and make her start herming! A few minutes here and there wouldn’t hurt too much but I would hope you weren’t doing that regularly for checking on her!

She’s coming along quite well! My first grow went too tall as well. A few suggestions:

  1. Any colas that are touching the light or are less than 2 inches away should be adjusted. Try using the Grobo support wires or other tie downs to bend/direct the colas away from the light.

  2. Don’t worry about the mold on the cocopod. That happens to almost everyone. You can push the cocopod down through the hole and into the DWC tank. This should give you a few more inches.

  3. The nutrient bottles seem to be missing their white caps with holes. Those caps should be on the bottles to prevent stuff from dropping in there.

  4. Mold - were you just referring to the cocopod or have you noticed mold in other places? If you see mold in other places cut it off the plant immediately!

  5. Harvest readiness - Indeed kind of hard to tell with these pics but I do also see white pistil hairs so probably not quite ready. It’s best to look at trichomes with magnification and look at the milky/cloudy’ness or amber’ness of the trich heads.

Good luck! You’ve done really well with this grow and am excited to see the finished product!

You may consider extending her in flower. Most of your pistols are still white. Shes got some maturing to do

@ToddYYC Thanks so much, how would I go about doing that? Is is just adjusting time of light on and off? I’ve been hesitant to mess with anything since it’s our first time but I do notice those pistols too so I will gladly extend to help her mature. Thanks so much!

@miami5th Thanks so much for such an in depth reply! So:

  1. Ive don’t this already to get it to where it is now haha but will see if I can adjust again since I started training way too late imo.
  2. Good to know - would hate to get any sort of mold or rot. It seems a bit moist up top where things are touching the top but hopefully bringing them down some more will help. The buds are sticky as hell so I might be confusing that with moisture?
  3. Yup, pure oversight. Will fix.
  4. Just on the pod that I see.
  5. Checked the trichomes and they seem to be reasonably milky but definitely not amber or much clear. I heard amber is a heavier smoke? Definitely like the lightness of sour diesel that made me try this one first. But the pistols are plenty white on some buds. Considering another recommendation to extend. Jist not really sure how to and don’t want to over do anything since we’ve come this far. Just not sure when to cut I guess for the strongest yet most uplifting creative type smoke.
Thanks again for your help. We really appreciate this!

@pyromancy yikes yeah it’s lights are off at 8pm and I often check around midnight. Not all the time but several times over the last few weeks. Duly noted. Thanks! Is there something I should check to make sure that doesn’t happen?

@Bobby To make modifications to the various stages you go into the grobo app, then Maintenance, Shift Schedule. This allows you to extend, go back, or go forward stages. For now I would extend your Flower for 7 days but keep a close eye on those trichomes. It sounds like you prefer the uplifting type of high, like me, so I think moving to flush when you are 50-75% milky with maybe a sprinkling of amber trichs is a good idea.

She’s getting pretty close to the finish line!

Thanks so much for the help. This community is living up to its rep. Super cool. Extended 7 days and will keep an eye on it for sure. Here’s a slightly closer shot and I used the magnifying glass, but haven’t figured out how to get good pictures of the trichomes yet. Here’s the best I have for today. Can’t wait to get this thing out and see how she does.

  • (You Can Add Fans At The Bottom To Midigate Moisture For Above):

  • " Air circulation – It’s a really great idea to have an exhaust fan constantly venting out hot humid air and replacing your grow space with fresh air whenever possible. But no matter what, make sure there’s always plenty of air moving over all the buds and leaves, and through the plant. This can take some planning."

Update in a new post “bud rot?!”. I should’ve updated here but forgot in my haste. Anyway I cut a couple spots thst looked it great on my two biggest colas. Thinking of pulling her now… any thoughts? How do I save the most possible plant though at this stage? Extended 7 days before flush but currently at day 102. Thanks!

I’m so sorry! Definitely get rid of all affected areas ASAP!! I hope there’s still something salvageable left, looks pretty serious.

Update!!

Harvested, dried, trimmed, and weighed – and coming in at 85 grams total, now curing. So pleased with just under 3 oz for my first grow, and excited for the next! Thanks to everyone here for all your help!
