First pic looks like it belongs in a magazine!
Mistakes are the only way to learn!!!
Sorry to be a drag, just s quick? Regarding lighting. The other day I sent you a pic of my tent was the four plants and one had to he Santa’s beard fungi growth. I have the 300 watt light that came with the TopGrow tent. There is a green house down the street that sells lights and I was wondering if I should pick up a booster light for the stretch run for these girls…
Not a drag, Your plants are doing fine without supplemental lighting. They appear to be healthy and growing well. More lighting doesn’t necessarily mean better plants.
If you’re in the market, or considering a second or third tent for a perpetual grow (veg tent and flower tent) then I would save the money and wait to upgrade or add a second light to a different tent. Imo no need to add to your current system where your plants are doing well
We all like pics #weedporn, just easier in a lot of cases to see what people are talking about In a picture than it is based of folks descriptions.
Well ok James I have a hydroponic bucket that I have been itching to try out and don’t have the look luxury of getting another tent right now, but would consider growing in my room by my window. Thinking about some kind of supplement light I can attach to the window pain or the book shelf above the bucket… any ideas on a clamp light? Also I have a few seeds I discovered in my medical jars. Should I trust them?
James I do live I the tropics so there is plenty of sun, I just don’t trust outside because of bugs and privacy issues!
I can not recommend any supplemental lighting. I have a 4 bar clamp on supplemental light that’s junk although for whatever reason has positive reviews on amazon. My review is pending approvals, but I highly doubt amazon will post it.
As for the bag seed, I wouldn’t trust it. Imo has a higher chance of being from a herm which is what it would grow if it was. That said, bag seeds is a coin flip. Some folks have luck with them. If in the rare chance I got one from a dispensary I chuck them, but in the 2 years now that I’ve been buying from dispensaries I have yet to find a single seed. Worst case scenario you plant it, after a few weeks in veg you can sex it. If it’s a male trash it.
Some things to keep in mind with hydroponics especially in your tropical region is water temps need to remain below a certain degree. If they exceed this, your chances of root rot jump significantly. Air stones, water chillers, pumps, ect… much to consider
I will toss the seeds! Expect some for Xmas anyway Lol…
Not saying what name is saying isn’t but I disagree about bag seeds … my last grow was bag seed and I tested 18 percent thc … my first grow was trapstar bag seed that was one beautiful plant … bag seeds can be great look at my last grow … also they are a way to practice whatever without feeling like you lost money if you mess up … just saying … I wouldn’t supplemental it’s pointless id upgrade to a better quality light and not that mars crap you can get qb boards cheaper than the sp250 and they are better … I e spent 1000s of dollars on lights and have written lengthy explanation on spectrum , light technology etc etc but yet nobody takes the advice but then will dm me asking why my plants aren’t like yours … not saying you or @James directly but in general …
Hi Chris good morning. Did you wake up on the wrong side of the Bud this morning Lol…thanks for the info. I was just wondering what to do with this bag seed. I did get it from the medical dispensary and it’s not like I bought it off the street and I know there is risks involved with bag seeds, but I just hate throwing it away too. I understand both so sides of the proverbial coin, but I’m also not opposed to experimenting either. My tent light seems to be doing the trick for now but it is my first grow. I was thinking of some kind of light for my hydroponic bucket that I might just start outside of my tent in my room. Maybe a clamp light or something I can hang over it?
Naw not on the wrong side at all … Probky just read into a little too deep … just saying a lot of questions people ask I’ve explained before … just gotta search a little that’s all … I’ve made all the mistakes y’all have and it costed me a bunch of money so if I can save y’all money and time why wouldn’t I … ? But it’s y’all s grow so you can choose to do what you will
Chris I entered into the community not knowing a thing about growing. A complete blank slate. I’m like a sponge… I want as much info as I can possibly absorb. From all possible angles. Not only am I a student, I am a patient and these are my meds. Failed crops are not an option for me. So I pay attention.
@buzzy6 Chris isn’t wrong, you pay for what you get especially when it comes to cannabis lighting. I don’t think this is a matter of taking @chris_barfield seriously and I can understand his frustration with it being exhausting as well the repetition of the same questions already answered. The search option is available and it’s likely 95% of the questions asked here have been answered. I think what’s missed is that a lot of folks here are relatively new to growing like you were at one point in life. Maybe didn’t have a grand to invest into a light at first. We all had to start somewhere and his marks plants don’t look bad with the unknown light. I’m happy for him. It gets a lot better tho as Chris mentioned, but that takes money and space (a luxury not all have). To each their own on the bag seed, but I do see Chris’ point. He’s passionate about cannabis and helping folks not make the same mistakes he’s made which is top shelf imo
I personally reached out to chris before, not about your plants, but the grobo as well as lighting. You were helpful and I appreciate that. Even at that time you recommended the sypders, but at that point had money wrapped up in that “seedo” as well. I also appreciate folks trying to help each other out in general. The SP250 is a solid light for entry level Indoor cannabis growers. Nothing wrong with that light. Is it top quality? Nope… not by any standard, but it’s significantly better than a lot of amazon lights with misleading random wattage ratings that mean little.
Maybe it’s not worth pointing out, but using that search option , it was easy to find references of the sp250 - not that it matters and seriously - just for giggles bud
Anyways, I hope you guys are having a great holiday season.
My mars sp250 & ts2000 produced quite a bit of cannabis for two little plants
Out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on the new Lighting?
Considering a larger setup
It’s all good. Chris has been very helpful since I’ve been in the community. For the most part, I have had a positive experience to this point. Maybe I have been a pest. Truly I have no idea of the light short of taking it out and taking pics. I threw out the package but I did buy it from Amazon and it came as a kit with the tent. Thanks. Maybe I will take a pic of the back of the light if that means anything to you.
Just got myself a ES 300 V2. I can’t wait to finish my Grobo grow and start a couple autos under it. It’ll be my first non Grobo grow. These forums have created a passion!
That is a very nice haul James. Well done
So @James I don’t have hands on experience with these lights but looking at the numbers and comparing ppfd they seem on point I like the fact that they Have multiple options depending on needs … some numbers are questionable but not to the point where it’s unbelievable … if you take a look at spydr I’m using 330 watts to produce 800 ppfd now if your gunna setup full on co2 then the 8 bar or 10 bar is a good setup but golly it’s throwing out 1700 ppfd which is super high if your not running a full fledged co2 unit … anything after 800 ppfd is useless to our plants unless co2 is supplemented and higher temps… not gunna lie the mammoth lights intrigue me … I’d honestly consider putting this in my list of lights to compare… for me it would Probky come down to efficiency and what the breakdown of spectrum is … cuz if it can have those numbers but then have a lot of blue in the spectrum which is kind of useless for seed to flower full spectrum lights… but if the spectrum are on point then shit they have a light for every budget and are pushing good numbers… if your really looking for super powerful light that can be dimmed the hlg 660 with r spec boards are a great option and can be built easily for under 500 and those thing crank
Around 1500 ppfd plus depending which driver you select to power that light … but that is a nice haul from the ts and sp250 … my biggest thing is about lights is heat cuz my environment is super sensitive so any additional heat really messes my stuff up
