Topping and Trimming

Day 13 Transition
~I am trimming a couple fan leaves every other day.
~How does she look and is this a good strategy?
~How much more trimming would you suggest?
~The day after a nip and tuck she blows up and the existing leaves double in size.

You have to find what works best for your style of growing!

Tips:

Lollipop in Transition stage.
Top In late veg (first day) 3 times between 4-6 nodes, usually around day 20-30.
Supercrop 2 weeks into flower after stretch.

Defoliate in:

First - (Late veg stage) mostly dead leaves or large fan leaves, low leaves, damaged, no more than 20%

Second- (Right before flower stage) & again 3 weeks in flower stage, or week 3 & 6 of flower. Mainly fan leaves, any yellow leaves.

autos change to flowering on their own time, not as a result of changing the photo period. Most autos are not topped as you don’t have enough veg time to get them to recover. Not saying it can’t be done, just not common practice.

Yields are smaller than photoperiod strains, most often it’s one big cola with a smattering of smaller nugs. The age old trade off of time vs yield!

The potency has certainly improved as breeders get more stable strains happening. I’d say that most are on par with photoperiod strains.
