Grobo Firmware Updates Thread

Hey everyone!

This thread will be used to track Grobo firmware updates and provide a change-log for each version.

This thread will be locked to commenting for organization but a new one has been created. Please use Firmware Update Comments Thread to post any questions or comments you have regarding any recent releases.

Please note:

The unit user LED will flash a magenta colour to indicate it is flashing the newest device firmware. Do not use your unit, or restart your unit during this time. After the flash is done the user LED may flash red for a few seconds and then go back to breathing light blue. This is expected. If problems persist please contact Grobo support at support@grobo.io

9.6.0 Changes:

  1. Grow light bug has been fixed. Occasionally the unit incorrectly reports the state of the grow lights to the server on initial start-up.
  2. MAC Address is now reported back from the Grobo to the server. Useful for customers in handling networking issues, especially firewall filters.
  3. Firmware version has been bumped from 9.2.1 to 9.6.0 to reconcile various internal versions.

Installation Notes:
Firmware upgrades are no longer pushed to the entire fleet. Instead, users are all responsible for performing their own upgrades.

During the upgrade process do not unplug or physically restart your system. This may result in damage which will require servicing. If you suspect your upgrade has not completed successfully, contact customer support before taking any action.

To upgrade your Grobo from the app, please go to:

  1. Settings
  2. About My Grobo
  3. Beside “Firmware Version” you will see “Click to Upgrade”
  4. Press that and it will begin the upgrade process on your Grobo.
  5. The user LED on your Grobo will blink violet while it downloads and installs the new firmware.
  6. Once the firmware is installed, the Grobo will reboot and you will see the user LED go through it’s usual start-up sequence off breathing white, blinking blue and finally breathing blue.
  7. Once the user LED is breathing blue, you can check that the new firmware is installed by clicking the continue button or reloading the page.
