Dead Grobo

During my morning checks, I notice the fans in the back were not running (but the LED grow lights were on) so I attempted to restart the Grobo by pulling the plug and re-plugging the grobo back in. However, the Grobo did not run like normal this time after a restart. Everything is dead (grow LEDS, all 3 fans, air stone, etc.) except for the LED status indicator. I am still able to login into the grobo via wifi.

I am thinking the source of the issue was caused by my humidifier creating the leaks and now the leaks have damaged the electronic components. This morning, there was another puddle, humidity at 70, little water spots all over the leaves and really misty inside. I guess the fans went out early for all the humidity to build up.

Just wondering if anyone else has experience a dead grobo? I have already submitted my ticket. The White Widow was finally getting on track and now with this issue, I think she going to be a goner. :worried:

Support ticket has already been submitted.

I hope I just need to replace the bottom board as the top board still has indicator light.

If she is down too long a couple of champs have transplanted from grobo to medium already. She doesn’t have to die :call_me_hand: good luck

I’ve responded with a couple quick troubleshooting steps. Let me know what you find out and we can go from there.

Thanks Stephen, I have already replied to the questions.

  1. Always my 1st spot to check is the power brick. It looks like your unit is getting power as your PCB0001 has a light on it. Is your power brick fully plugged in? It’s a two part, so the wall to the brick may be loose, or the brick to the Grobo.

They are all fully plugged in.

  1. Do you see a light on your bottom PCB board if you have the sidewall off? Is that board plugged in securely?

I do not see any light from the bottom PCB board. I checked all the cables to see if they are securely plugged in.

My only option for a new medium would be in outdoor soil. Considering its September (I’m in San Jose, CA… mediterranean climate) and I am still in late vegetation, I don’t think she has great outlook outdoors.

Right now, I have her near a window to get as much sun she can get. Hopefully, it just the bottom PCB board that needs to be replace. What was weird was that the grow LED was still on before I tried the restart.

Makes sense I believe the top circuit board controls light, so u had some functionality. At least she shouldn’t completely die out with the way you have it set up. I’d be using some hydroguard rn

Any ideas how long she can last without functioning grow LEDs, air stone and water change? Weekly water change is due tomorrow and fill/drain pump aren’t functioning. I feel bad not being able to provide direct sunlight.

I might just put her in the backyard soil if I don’t hear back from support/@Stephen soon to give her a chance.

I’d give her a week, two max then transplant. If u can grab a well draining 3 gallon pot(bag is best) and some super soil (KIS organics or sohum living soils) she may bounce back and do well.

Maybe you could take a cup and empty most of the water out of the reservoir, mix a tiny bit of the three nuts your plant has been needing 3,4,5. But Ph the water first if you have to using 2,3. Pour it into reservoir yourself to give it a fresh water change. Just an idea…

Thanks everyone for the tips and suggestions. It seems the best option now is to transplant to pot and soil since the replacement board will take a couple of weeks to arrive. Hopefully, it was just the PCB#2 (bottom board) only needs replacing.

The root cause appeared to be the humidifier that fried the board. I would take caution now using a humidifier. For those that had puddles and used the humidifier, thats the source of the leak. Will mark this thread resolve once I get the Grobo back up.
