That’s not true plants need to sweat when they over heat or take in too much water … sweating is not a bad and a few plants in my tents you can actually see the perspiration on some leaves …

I was told excessive sweating leads to mold

No air flow and high humidity leads to mold … so if your plant is sweating and your not moving the air then yes … but plants sweating is how plants work … if they are over heating or taking in too much water how else would they dissipate that? They donthing like fold there leaves, curl or taco when temps and humidity are out of range … but think about strains near the equators where it’s hot at all times they most definitely sweat to help regulate themselves
